How far would you go to fulfill your dream? Would you go as far as this 42-years-old Hong-Kong-based inventor and create a robot that bears an uncanny resemblance to one of the most beautiful women in the world? Because that’s exactly what Ricky Ma did when he created the Scarlett Johansson robot.
The photo you are seeing above is not one of Scarlett Johansson, but one of the robot named Mark 1. Although its inventor did not disclose the name of the actress he based his model off of, it’s obvious to everyone. The wonders of technology, right?
Let’s find out how Ricky created this beauty. “When I was a child, I liked robots. Why? Because I liked watching animation. All children loved it. There were Transformers, cartoons about robots fighting each other and games about robots”, he revealed.
In order to fulfill his childhood dream of one day creating a robot, the inventor said he needed “a lot of money” and also that people were asking him “Do you even know how to do it? It’s really hard.”
Turns out Ma really did know how to do it and it took him 1.5 years and $50,000 to build his very own robot. That also happens to resemble Scarlett Johansson a lot. It’s actually amazing how much it looks like her.
The majority of the Scarlett Johansson robot is made out of 3D parts and, aside from its looks, it’s also quite smart. It responds to a series of voice commands such as “Good morning/Good night”, “How are you?” and “You are very beautiful”. Get this: when told it’s beautiful, the robot says “Hehe, thank you”. “Its brows and muscles around its eyes relax , and the corner of its lips lift, creating a natural-seeming smile.” Wow!
Here’s Scarlett’s signature smirk. Aren’t you blown away by the resemblance?
Here’s Ricky Ma and his creation.
