Christina Grimmie’s Killer Identified By Police

Former ‘The Voice‘ contestant and talented singer Christina Grimmie has been fatally shot after her concert in Orlando, on Friday night.

The 22-years-old singer was singing autographs following her performance at the Plaza Live, when she was shot and killed.

The killer then shot himself after Christina’s brother managed to tackle him. According to witnesses, the man approached the singer and shot her. Her brother Marcus instantly tackled him, but the man killed himself during the scuffle.

The shooting was confirmed by the Orlando Police on Twitter: “With deep regret, we have confirmed Christina Grimmie, @TheRealGrimmie has died from her injuries.”

The police have also made public the identity of Grimmie’s killer. Kevin Loibl, 21, reportedly had been carrying two loaded guns, two magazines, and a a large hunting knife.

According to the police report, he had traveled to the concert specifically.

According to Orlando Police Chief John Mina, they received a call about gunshots being fired at the Plaza Live around 10.30 p.m. and responded within two minutes. When they arrived at the scene, they found that two people were dead, both Grimmie and her attacker.

Police discovered that Loibl had no ties to the singer and that he was living in St. Petersburg from where he traveled to commit the atrocious crime.

It was also revealed that the man did no travel to Orlando by himself. Police are looking into his phone and computer and trying to find out what his motive was.

Plaza Live did not employ armed security guards for Christina Grimmie’s concert. Also, there weren’t any metal detectors inside the venue.

Christina rose to fame with the help of a strong YouTube following. In 2014 when she competed on NBC’s The Voice. She finished third.

It is with a heavy heart that we can confirm that Christina has passed and went home to be with the Lord,” her spokeswoman, Heather Weiss, said in a statement. “She was shot at her show in Orlando and, unfortunately, didn’t survive the gun shot wounds. We ask at this time that you respect the privacy of her family and friends in their time of mourning.”

This is the last video posted by the singer on her Twitter before she was fatally shot.

The Voice mentors Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, and Blake Shelton have all expressed their sadness over Grimmie’s death.
