Owner Caroline D’Antonio and her late husband, David, purchased the five-bedroom, four bathroom, 1927 Dutch Colonial back in 2010 for $950,000.
The horror story of the infamous house began in 1974, when 23-year-old Ronald DeFeo Jr. shot and killed his parents and four siblings while they were sleeping. He is currently serving 25 years to life at the Green Haven Correctional Facility in Stormville, NY.

One year after DeFeo’s killing spree, a couple moved into the house. George and Kathy Lutz only lasted for 28 days in the home before claiming that they have witnessed paranormal activity. Their story inspired the novel The Amityville Horror: A True Story, and the 1979 horror movie and the 2005 remake.
However, there are many that state that the story is untrue and is known as “The Amityville Hoax”.
